馬來西亞羽球傳奇拿督李宗偉經常在社媒上分享生活點滴，5月1日他和三名兒子一起為太太黃妙珠慶祝生日，李宗偉寫下和黃妙珠的愛情故事透露，為了保護黃妙珠，兩人曾發展地下情長達8年。
黃妙珠考SPM期間，李宗偉向她告白 李宗偉重提當年在世界青年錦標賽期間，向正在考SPM的黃妙珠告白要對方成為他的女朋友，但當時黃妙珠因為父母和姐姐不允許拒絕，但李宗偉仍然主動告白。
李宗偉也說到為了保護黃妙珠避免受到媒體和家人的壓力，因此把兩人的關係保密長達8年，若時間能夠重來李宗偉說自己還是會有一樣的選擇，“我不會改變我為她所做的一切。 因為我真的很愛她。”
文末，李宗偉祝黃妙珠生日快樂時也真摯告白她在心目中永遠都是20歲的樣子，“這些年你不眠不休照顧這個家庭，特別是迷你李出來之後更沒時間休息，辛苦你了，謝謝你，我們四個男人心中永遠的小公主♥️”。
圈中藝人和網友看了李宗偉寫給黃妙珠的生日告白後紛紛被感動，“Happy Birthday Datin”、“生日快樂datin 謝謝你把我們的地區英雄照顧得好好”、“Sooo sweet”等。
2012年結婚，升級一家五口 李宗偉和黃妙珠愛情長跑多年，兩人在2012年結婚並舉行盛大婚禮，婚後黃妙珠誕下長子Kingston、次子Terrance，去年底兩人迎接三兒子Anson的到來正式升格為一家五口。
李宗偉社媒全文： During my schooling days when others' bag are filled with books and pens, mine was just filled with a pillow to sleep. I would borrow some papers and pen from the girl sitting in front of me. I would kicked her chair to get her attention.
I would asked her to became my girlfriend when I played at the World Youth Championship and when she was sitting SPM. I would asked her to quietly be my girlfriend despite she said 'no' due to objections from her parents and sister.
I would wait for her at the staircase area at our hostel to talk to her. I would grabbed her hand to run up the stairs when we hear outsiders coming in the staircase area.
